This past Friday, OSHA levied fines against two different companies for failing to provide proper Fall Protection for their workers. In both cases a worker died because OSHA regulations were not followed. You can read the official announcements below:
OSHA cites Pittsburgh Construction Company…
OSHA cites C.A. Franc $539,000
Both cases serve as grim reminders that when regulations are not followed, workers die.
According to OSHA…
Fall protection must be provided at four feet in general industry, five feet in maritime and six feet in construction. However, regardless of the fall distance, fall protection must be provided when working over dangerous equipment and machinery.

Fall protection equipment consist of various items that are used to tether a worker and arrest their fall. The use of equipment, such as lanyards, harnesses and fall protection kits, prevents workers from falling off platforms, ledges or roofs, or into dangerous machinery.
