Now doesn’t that sound like a deal? It would if your company was facing a one-million dollar fine as was the case with Milk Specialties Company in Whitehall. However, a better deal would be not getting fined at all.

Every year OSHA conducts approximately 45,000 job site inspections. It is important to be prepared for an inspection at all times by updating policies and procedures on a regular basis.

It is important to note that during an OSHA inspection all employees are subject to review, so it is imperative that everyone is up to date on the required policies and procedures by having the proper safety training. It’s also vital that workers are provided with written safety instructions and that they are kept in accessible areas for all to review at any time. Of course no one wants to get fined, but more importantly no one wants to see another person get hurt; especially when the accident could have been avoided.

So what is the best way to avoid a fine all together? Well the simple answer would be to brush up on and abide by the requirements set forth by OSHA. You can get more information on OSHA requirements by visiting the United States Department of Labor Occupational Safety & Health Web site.
