Have you ever noticed that smaller businesses adapt the mindset that OSHA regulations don’t apply to them? (Maybe you’ve seen your landscaper mowing the lawn in flip flops.) Perhaps it’s because they believe that OSHA regulations are reserved for larger businesses, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Sure the odds of an OSHA inspector citing them as they trim your hedges seems about as likely has hitting it big at the casino, but does that give these smaller businesses a free pass?
Think of this, it’s 3am on a Tuesday and you’re traveling down a road and come to a red light. As you begin to stop you take a look around and it is just short of being a ghost town. Would you sit out that red light until it turns green or would you look at it more as a stop sign? You may not get caught for running that light, but does that make it right?
