It was announced on Friday by West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin that the state has launched a workplace safety hotline. Workers are encouraged to call this hotline and report any concerns they may have about their workplace. The phone calls will be anonymous so people can feel comfortable in calling.

“I want every miner and every worker in the state of West Virginia to be empowered,” Manchin said. “If you believe you have absolutely no avenue, no vehicle in the structure of the company where you work … please call us.”

This new hotline was developed in response to the 29 miners who perished in the April 5th explosion at Upper Big Branch Mine in Raleigh County. It is said that the hotline will be staffed around the clock, seven days a week by the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Workers can place an anonymous report to the workplace safety hotline by calling 1-866-808-0875.
